We teach Spanish weekly across the school from Year 3 upwards. We have a curriculum map which uses songs, games and other engaging oral activities to encourage enjoyment and excitement whilst learning, as well as giving pupils opportunities to use language in real-life, social and interactive context. We also teach reading, writing, grammar and intercultural understanding explicitly, as we recognise these are key building blocks in learning a language.

We have a number of native Spanish speakers in the school (pupils and adults) who can support learning in Spanish and provide a model for pronunciation. We also have many local links with Spanish organisations, including the Spanish International School which is situated nearby.
